The Porometer 3G is the latest generation instrument for measuring the pore size of through-pores in sheet and solid materials. Typical samples include membrane filters, paper, porous plastics, thin films, and other sheet materials. It can analyze geotextiles, fabrics, woven and sintered metal sheet filters and many other porous materials.
Measures:
Bubble Point or Maximum Pore Size
Mean (Flow) Pore Size,
Analysis Range 500µm to 0.05 µm diameter
Minimum Pore Size
Gas Permeability
Optional Liquid Permebility
The Quantachrome Porometer 3G uses the well known liquid expulsion technique in which one side of wetted porous sample is subjected to a continually increasing gas pressure. The pores empty of liquid when the applied pressure exceeds the 'capillary pressure'. The capillary pressure is dependent upon the pores size, the wetting liquid and its interface properties.
